My name is Matilde and I am a 17-year-old student living and studying in the UK. I have lived in London for 12 years and have been through the English school system from primary school all the way until pre-university. However, I was born in Italy to Italian parents and have had the opportunity to live in many different parts of the world, such as: Rome, Dubai, and London. Growing up internationally has shaped who I am today and taught me the importance of an open mind and a strong education. Co-founding MaBi English means a lot to me; it allows me to connect with my Italian heritage while living abroad- something I have always struggled with. Not only this, but it gives me the opportunity to engage in social politics, a real passion of mine. Through this project I am able to bridge two important parts of my identity: my Italian roots and my international education. Giving back to Italians and sharing just a piece of what I have learnt is extremely valuable to me and I hope it can positively impact as many as possible. I strongly believe that language is a powerful tool that can open doors to opportunities and I hope to empower young people to embrace their potential, giving them that bit of extra confidence that can make all the difference.
